What is Gannett?

Gannett Co., Inc. is a leading international news and information company. The company publishes 84 daily newspapers, including USA TODAY, and nearly 1,000 non-daily publications; and operates 23 television stations in the U.S. with a market reach of more than 20.1 million households. Each of these newspapers and television stations provide locally oriented Internet sites offering news, entertainment and advertising content, in text and video format. Is this an Internship?

No, this is not an internship. This is a 10 week training program and regular full time employment opportunity.

Can I choose where I want to go?

Yes, you select the region where you want to work, however the location is not guaranteed. We will strive to place you in your geographic region of choice.

Will my travel expenses and lodging be covered for the orientation at Gannett headquarters?

Yes.

Will I get paid during those 10 weeks?

Yes, you will be paid commensurate with the entry-level starting salaries at the property where you work.

Do I receive benefits?

Yes, you will be eligible for Gannett benefits including but not limited to health medical/vision/dental insurance, life insurance, vacation, and 401(k). You will be eligible for health insurance after your 90-day introductory period.

Does Gannett offer a sign-on bonus?

Yes, up $1,500.

What happens after I complete the program?

Upon successful completion of the program, you will be offered a full-time position at the local unit where you completed your training. Participants will attend a local graduation ceremony at their work location.

Will I be assigned a mentor? If so, what’s his or her role?

Yes, you will be assigned a mentor. The mentor will meet with you on a regular basis to give you an opportunity to inquire and learn about the various aspects of the media profession.
