Program Overview (from the program website):

HealthCorps®, a proactive health movement with an educational mentoring program in high schools, founded and developed by heart surgeon and syndicated talk show host Dr. Mehmet Oz, is seeking dynamic and engaging individuals to teach its school curriculum and coordinate community health education events.

Coordinators will function as the heart of a national initiative launched in response to a drastic decline in the health of our nation. Based upon a "Peace Corps" model of employment, Coordinators serve two years in a designated high school and community where they will serve as peer-mentors and activists.

The mission of HealthCorps is to get Americans to eat smart and exercise, as well as increase individual awareness and create a generation of self-empowered health activists. Through the HealthCorps two-year Coordinator experience, the organization also hopes to influence a new generation of future health practitioners.
