Description:

The YAO manager is responsible for building and growing the Young Ambassador for Opportunity program for Opportunity International. Additionally, as a member of the Resource Development team, the YAO program manager is accountable for managing overall program activities, volunteer efforts and day-to-day operations. Primary stakeholders of this program include YAO prospects, members, chapter leaders, the Regional Director for Young Ambassadors, the YAO board, and the staff fundraisers who work directly with the prospects and YAO members.

Along with the YAO board, the YAO manager is responsible for ensuring that the YAO program realizes its mission to inspire, educate and involve the next generation in the power of microfinance and the mission of Opportunity International.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate program activities to meet goals.

Recruit and manage volunteers, chapter leaders, and YAO National Board members.

Create and maintain best practices to attract, train and recognize committed and skilled YAO volunteers.

Equip and assist YAO chapter leaders and board member volunteer activities.

Assist leaders in coordinating and attend chapter events as needed.

Facilitate national board meetings and retreats.

Provide information, marketing material and fundraising tools

Plan and facilitate chapter leader and board calls.

Work with the board to establish short and long-term goals to achieve mission.

Lead YAO Insight Trip(s).

Speak on behalf of Opportunity International at industry events.

Facilitate partnerships with industry organizations that complement program strategy.

Manage YAO social media strategy and manage YAO marketing and online/offline communications plan to support program goals, engage members, and increase community awareness of program.

Increase donations from YAO members and target market segments.

Manage financial analysis and tracking of YAO program.

Regular reporting of program’s financial standing including revenue and expenditures.

Recruit and manage YAO intern(s).

Leverage industry best practices in all aspects of program management.

Serve as staff liaison for International YAO staff, chapters and efforts.

Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

3-5 years relevant experience required.

Bachelor’s degree, non-profit, fundraising, events and volunteer engagement experience preferred.

Creative and innovative with a positive, customer-service oriented attitude.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.

Ability to work independently and as a team player; take initiative, and plan strategically.

Ability to engage volunteers and direct their efforts.

Organized, attentive to detail, ability to quickly redirect attention and prioritize tasks.

Good public speaking skills.

Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, desktop publishing programs; Raisers Edge experience helpful.

Strong project management skills.

Strong editing, proofreading and grammar skills.

Dependable, problem solver and strong ability to multi-task.

Able to work under pressure of meeting deadlines.

Ability to travel both domestically and internationally as needed.

Ability to work overtime as needed.
