Academic background: Business, Economics, Finance, MBAs or relevant masters is ideal.

Experience: Minimum proven 4 years of experience in strategy, business incubation, entrepreneurship, management, program/project coordinator.

Location: Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.

Reports to: Executive Director

Period: 1 year (with possibility for contract extension)

Compensation: Locally appropriate Guatemalan salary

Alterna is a grassroots, inclusive Social Entrepreneurship hub based in Guatemala that promotes social/environmental entrepreneurship by incubating and accelerating promising local social ventures that have a high impact potential. Alterna is an emerging key player in the growing impact investment ecosystem in Latin America. We help our incubated businesses gain access to financing, business, and technical assistance.

We are looking for a change-maker, an individual that defies the status quo and aspires to apply solid business skills to an emerging sector: Impact investment. We want someone to embrace challenges, becoming a vital team member in the organization by defining and transforming a new sector.

Alterna is looking for a driven, passionate Program Manager whose main goals will be:
· Accompany the organization to the next level of growth.
· Oversee success and needs for current incubated businesses
· Expand the current successful incubated business portfolio
· Provide significant input into organizational strategy
· Create strategic alliances to attract impact investment sources to current and potential incubated businesses

MAIN AREAS OF WORK

1) Business incubation
· Oversee current business portfolio
· Create tailored incubation program for new ventures
· Implement mid-term strategies to identify social entrepreneurs and crate a robust pipepline of incubated ventures.
· Identify relevant financing sources for incubated businesses
· Assist current and potential entrepreneurs towards the creation highly qualitative business plans
· Develop tailored market research activities

2) Fundraising
· Enhance current business model with activities.
· Identify new funding sources
· Create local and international fundraising campaigns

3) Communications
· Improve Alterna´s communication channels: Social networks, web site, etc.
· Contribute to the creation and editing of end-year report

4) Staff:
· Expand consultant-mentorship program and networks on a regional and international level.
· Identify specific mentors for incubated businesses according to needs

Skills:
· Great analytic skills, mathematical and logical reasoning
· Financial proficiency is essential
· Sensitive to social/environmental problems
· Fluency in Spanish. Preference will be given to native Spanish speakers
